Dallas has aced every possible regular-season test. They’ve won shootouts against high-flying offenses like the Steelers and Redskins. They’ve completed comebacks against strong defenses like the Eagles and cheap nhl jerseys and Ravens. The Cowboys even showed Thursday night they could win a defensive battle on the road in Minnesota, a rare game where their power-packed offense lacked electricity.
Securing the No. 1 seed in the NFC is a matter of when, not if. A chance to avenge the team’s only loss thus far next week at MetLife Stadium could be the last truly meaningful game the Cowboys play until mid-January. In the meantime, the Fighting Daks will adjust to their new role. With December here, they have transformed from the season’s best story to favorites for the Super Bowl. Now comes the hard part.
Bright lights are nothing new for Rayne Dakota Prescott. He led Haughton (La.) High School to a district championship as a junior, sealing the title game by driving his team 80 yards in 47 seconds, without using a timeout. As a senior, he led his high school to its first ever undefeated season and another district title. Playing with a torn MCL in the championship game and unable to run, Prescott saved his best for last, throwing for 366 yards with three touchdowns with dozens of college recruiters watching from the stands.
At Mississippi State, he was a three-year starter in the nation’s toughest conference. In 2014, he led the Bulldogs to nine straight victories to open the season, including three in a row over top-10 opponents that led to the school’s very first No. 1 ranking. He won 20 games in his final two years in Starkville, setting nearly every school passing record along the way. Currently he sits third on the SEC’s all-time list for passing yards and fourth in total touchdowns.
What we saw Al Davis do with the Raiders in the late 1970s and early ’80s was remarkable. He was always infatuated with speed, and we saw him — and head coaches John Madden and Tom Flores — utilize speed at most, if not all, skill positions. That’s why they were able to win three championships during that time (1976, 1980 and 1983).
When you talk about a dynasty, you have to talk about the fan base. When the Raiders moved from Oakland to Los Angeles in 1982, their fans moved with them. History shows the Raiders have a strong fan base, and if they move to Las Vegas, you would see the same type of following.
With Dak Prescott playing at a higher level than any rookie quarterback in NFL history — on pace for the highest passer rating for a rookie at 103.9 — the Cowboys will continue to bring Romo back slowly. In fact, Prescott is expected to start the next two games for the Cowboys, a source with knowledge of the team’s plans told Rapoport.
The Cowboys’ brass insisted at the start of the season that it was Romo’s team when he returns. Prescott’s play has led to a softer stance on the matter.
The Cowboys signed the veteran linebacker to a one-year deal Monday, the team announced. And even the team is billing the signing as a depth-related move.
McClain suited up for the Atlanta Falcons in 2015, registering 82 tackles in an otherwise forgettable season under Dan Quinn. He was released in February.
Disparaged as an injury-prone, washed-up tease throughout last offseason and into the summer, McFadden ended up reaching 1,000 rushing yards for just the second time in his career. In fact, he generated more 100-yard rushing performances than any tailback save Adrian Peterson — despite being relegated to a backup role until late October.
The common denominator is a dominant offensive line which factored into the organization’s decision to lowball Murray last offseason.
